BREAKING NEWS: Senator Abaribe Arrested in Abuja

The senator representing Abia South senatorial district and Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Enyinnaya Abaribe has been arrested, HRL News reports.

He was arrested by security operatives in mufti, who trailed him from the National Assembly complex when he was leaving the premises on Friday.
The reason for his arrest is yet confirmed as efforts to speak with his media aide, Mr Uche Awom on phone was not successful.

He was arrested in connection with the bail bond he signed for the missing leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The Senator, a vocal critic of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, had late last year asked the Federal High Court sitting Abuja to revoke the undertaking he took on behalf Kanu.

He later appealed to the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to discharge him as Kanu’s surety as he has not seen or heard from Kanu since September 11, 2017 when federal troops invaded the separatist leader’s country home in Umuahia, Abia State.
