Gov. Ugwuanyi Not Against Peter Obi's Appointment as SunNewspaper Withdraws Publication Apologises to Gov Ugwuanyi

Sun Newspaper has just withdrawn its earlier publication in which it falsely claimed that gov Ugwuanyi of Enugu state rejected the appointment of Mr Peter Obi as the running mate of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and opted to work for President Muhammad Buhari reelection bid.

According to the statement signed by the Editor of Sun Newspaper, the publication titled, "Why South East govs, leaders moved against Obi as Atiku’s vice,” published in our sister publication, Sunday Sun, we erroneously stated that Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, is vehemently opposed to the choice of former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as running mate to PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, that he vowed to work for President Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election next year."

The news media therefore said, "We have discovered that our reporter did not get his facts right. The Enugu State governor never issued the threat abscribed to him" and thereafter apologised to Gov Ugwuanyi, "We, therefore, apologise to Gov Ugwuanyi for the embarrassment the wrong representation may have caused him."
