Senator Ayogu Eze gives up, returns to Enugu

Senator Ayogu Eze, the sacked APC governorship candidate of Enugu state has returned to the Coal City ahead of March 9 governorship election.  He landed at the Enugu airport this afternoon after wallowing at Abuja searching for restoration.

His candidature was nullified by the Abuja high court on February 5, 2019. The court while delivering judgement ordered APC to submit the name of Barr George Ogara as the candidate of the party in Enugu state.

APC refused to submit George Ogara's name to INEC. Yesterday, the electoral commission published the updated names of all the governorship candidates for March 9, governorship and state assembly elections and failed to list any candidate for APC Enugu state.

The Commission rather said that in obedience to the court judgement sacking Senator Ayogu Eze, APC is yet to submit the name of Barr George Ogara.

With the position of INEC yesterday, Ayogu Eze returned to Enugu today unannounced. He looked unhappy and did not speak to press.

It is not certain if Appeal court will determine his appeal against the February 5 judgement before Saturday's election.

With no governorship candidate, APC Enugu state will only contest for the state House of Assembly election on March 9.
