‘Winner and warrior’ Gunners legend Pires urges Chelsea to sign up French Legend

Arsenal legend Robert Pires has urged Chelsea to replace under-fire boss with former Real Madrid ace Zinedine Zidane.

 Zinedine Zidane

Despite a turn in results over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of speculation in the media that he is just a few bad results away from getting the sack after failing to keep Chelsea in the hunt for a Premier League title, an FA Cup win and maybe a Carabao Cup victory.

And that has led to a lot of speculation that owner Roman Abramovic would love to hire former Madrid boss Zidane, who has been out of a job after guiding the Spaniards to their third Champions League victory in a row last season.

Now Pires has urged Chelsea to make a move for Zidane as he would be a very good appointment by the club.

It’s a very strange situation with Chelsea and how they treat their managers,’ Pires told Bwin.

‘Sarri is a very good manager and he performed very well with Napoli, but it’s hard to see him at the club next season. There appears to be a lot of player power at Chelsea that he is struggling to overcome like many have before him.

‘I think Zidane would be a very good appointment at Chelsea. He would demand respect from the Chelsea players and control the dressing room as a result of everything he has achieved both on the pitch as a player and on the bench as a manager.

‘He’s a winner and a warrior. He’s had great success in the Champions League which is attractive to the Chelsea owner. It would be very good news for the Premier League if Zidane moved to England.’

Would Zidane be a good appointment by Chelsea?

There is no doubt that Zidane is a top coach that would add something different to the Blues attack, but the Premier League is a very tactical League and he may struggle as he failed to do anything in La Liga with Madrid.

There are doubts that about his ability as a man manager and his defensive side of the game, and that is what Chelsea need to work on the most.

Zidane is a winner, but he could be a massive risk for Chelsea.
