Police cordon off Owerri Shoprite

The police in Imo State have cordoned off the Shoprite Complex in Owerri following rumours that angry youths were planning to attack it.

This is even as the management of Shoprite Owerri has shut down the business outfit over the fear of being attacked.

This is coming as Nigerian are protesting the killing of Nigerians in South Africa.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, told our correspondent that the police took the action in order to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the state.

He said that other businesses owned by South Africans which were in the state were being protected from attacks
